Bridal Tip | Collecting Addresses

March 8, 2014

As some of you may know, I got married in August.  It was an amazingly wonderful day, and I am unbelievably happy with how it all turned out.  It wasn’t always a wonderful experience, but I did learn a lot about how my brides feel in all stages of the planning process.  I think I can identify with my brides really well because I totally get it.  I get the stress, the love, how much other people’s opinions can cloud your view of everything.  I want my brides to be able to learn from my experience, so I’ve decided to start a series with tips for all brides!

First I want to introduce you all to a wonderful website for collecting addresses called Postable. After you make your free account, you can send a link to your family and friends so they can imput all of their information.  This is wonderful because it can save you hours of time trying to get addresses from your parents, retyping from an address book, or messaging friends on facebook.  All they have to do is follow the link and put in their information, they don’t have to register or anything.  When you send them a link, this is what they see:

After your wonderful friends and family fill out the form, it goes into a personal online contact book on your account.  You can then add some contacts yourself if any of your guests are less than tech savy.  After you have all of the contacts you need, you can export it in word or excel, in many different levels of formality.  This is seriously a HUGE time saver!!!  I exported in a less formal form for the Save the Dates, and a more formal capacity for the Invitations.

The best part about it is that you can access your addresses very easily throughout the entire process, and from anywhere.  While we were addressing our Thank Yous, my husband and I could both pull it up on our computers and not have to pass a list back and forth.  I even used it to send out my Christmas cards this year!  Its also easy to update when people change, and if they have an account it automatically updates their entry.  I am so happy that I stumbled upon this and I hope loads of other brides find it and can save a little time 🙂
