2020 Behind the Scenes

December 30, 2020

Well…this was one crazy year.

I sit at my desk, as the year is winding down, and don’t really even know where to begin. When I think about myself at this time last year I had some pretty big dreams and plans. I was so hopeful for a new decade and taking my business into a different level. In short, that didn’t happen. I couldn’t safely or financially make those things happen. And as the world fell apart it was all I could do to keep things a float.

But I don’t want to talk about how tough this year was. I want to talk about the amazing parts. I want to talk about how proud I am of the amazing Kansas City wedding community; how we worked together, how I watched everyone come up with creative solutions for insane problems, and how we supported each other in a new way. I’ve said this once, and I’ll say it a thousand times, there is no wedding industry like the one here in KC.

I want to talk about how at the end of it all, this little business made it. And honestly, this wasn’t just because of anything I did. Clients paid early to make sure I had income, SO MANY people bought shirts to support in their own way, not to mention all the folx that just checked in on me. (If you missed out on buying a shirt and want one don’t worry, you can do so HERE!) Thank you for all of it!

I want to talk about what I learned this year. I learned how necessary it is for me to use this platform to talk about things that are important. I learned about how many things I enjoy in my free time (when I finally had some) and how to keep myself “busy” with new things that brought me joy. I learned to cross stitch. I learned I love interior design. I learned what is really important in my life.

Though I am so excited for the day where I don’t have to wear a mask for my weddings / sessions, I’m so happy I was able to safely create beautiful images for so many wonderful people this year!

**Please note, if I don’t have a mask on it’s because I was observing social distancing or that wedding happened pre-covid**

Thank you to all of the amazing photographers that I had the joy of working with this year, and who took these fantastic photos of me; Esperanza Dunning, Brigitte Patterson, Louise Wirick, and Denise Jambor! These ladies make my job even better, and they work so hard to create beautiful images for my clients. Thank you ladies from the bottom of my heart!!
