Alex & Rachel | Kansas City Wedding at The Guild

August 1, 2017

On a beautiful day last September, Alex and Rachel said “I DO” in the heart of downtown Kansas City, where the two call home.  They met in college at Rockhurst University, though neither of them knew at the time that they had met the great love of their life.  Rachel thought, “He was just the coolest guy – he was always friendly, really attractive and just easygoing. It was always easy to talk to him.”   Turns out, Alex felt pretty much the same way: “I wasn’t interested in the dating scene during college but I saw Rachel as the one smart, pretty, and interesting girl that I wanted to get to know better.”  These two pretty much face life as one big adventure, and falling in love was no different.  Alex proposed at a beautiful winery in Arkansas, and of course Rachel said yes! We did their engagement session a few months later (and you can check it out HERE).

Here is a few words about the day written by the amazing planner Beth, of Chappelow Events! “The overall wedding design was driven by the couple’s desire to express their unique, blended style in a way that would be very memorable and enjoyable for their guests. Rachel and Alex found inspiration in the combination of industrial elements with modern, elegant details. With a shared love of greenery and copper, they accented the color palette with jewel tones, focusing on shades of purple and navy.  The brick walls and stunning chandelier of The Guild made the perfect setting for the reception, while the ceremony took place under a romantic, chiffon draping in front the wood pallet wall of the courtyard. The couple gave personal vows to each other during their first look, and more tradition vows during their ceremony, which concluded with a meaningful “tying of the knot” demonstration. Dinner tables showcased unique copper details, lush arrangements, and gorgeous lagoon linen napkins. Hand painted signage and creative details were found everywhere! Guests indulged in cuban faire, hand-crafted signature cocktails, delicious cake, and several flavors of hand-spun cotton candy. For their first dance as husband and wife, Rachel and Alex perfected a choreographed routine that reminded them of the special manner in which they met during their college years – as dance partners!”

From Rachel: “I am just speechless thinking about how wonderful our wedding day was. So much love and support surrounding us, from local friends to family from all corners of the country. We still smile about it. Now, on to our next big adventure!!”

I was seriously so honored to be a part of Alex & Rachel’s day.  They are two of the most wonderful and truly kind people I’ve ever met, and our friendship means a lot to me!  Their love for each other is so beautiful and peaceful, and photographing them on their wedding day was such an honor for me. I am so excited to see where their lives take them; I know they will spend it adventuring!

I am also so excited to announce that Alex & Rachel’s big day was featured in the most recent issue of KC Weddings!!  You can see the whole issue HERE, or pick it up on your local newsstand!  Rachel’s design was absolutely beautiful, and I’m so happy that we get to share their day with other brides in the Kansas City area!

A huge thanks goes out to all of the amazing vendors that made this day happen (see below), and for your patience as we waited on publishing.  You guys all did such an amazing job so we could all come together for Alex & Rachel; people like you are why I love working in the KC wedding industry!!
