Erik & Christine are such sweet people, and it was so obvious to me that they loved every person around them on their day so dearly. Christine’s father had passed away 5 months prior to her wedding day, so these moments with their favorite people were extra special. Christine started her day getting ready at her mom’s house. She wore an old pair of shoes that she loved, and had sewn in a heart shaped piece of her dad’s shirt into the inside of her dress. Her mom and her sisters helped her get into her gown, while her bridesmaids waited downstairs so they could get the best view as she came down. After they arrived at the church, they exchanged gifts; Erik gave Christine a bracelet with an inscription from her parents. Christine was walked down the aisle to the man of her dreams with her mom and brother by her side.
After we found some special nooks and crannies in Leawood for portraits of the wedding party and Erik & Christine, the group took a little bit of time to party while the guests had a cocktail hour at the venue. One of my favorite things about Erik & Christine’s day was the venue!! The Jefferson Building is absolutely beautiful, it has a very traditional look with a modern twist which made it the perfect backdrop for these two to celebrate with family and friends. Also, this was the first wedding reception hosted at this new venue!!! After food and toasts, the party moved into the library. After Erik & Christine shared their first dance, and Erik danced with his mom, something very special happened. Christine got to dance with all of the men in her life that were important to her and then the whole room danced to her dad’s favorite song…there wasn’t a dry eye in the room and I’m getting goosebumps just remembering how it felt. Such a celebration of love!!
