Wedding Day Emergency Kit | Kansas City Wedding Photographer

April 29, 2015

As Murphy’s law states, if something can go wrong, it will go wrong.  I’ve always been a big proponent, in all areas of life, to be overly prepared.  I’m the girl that brings an umbrella just in case it rains.  Truth be told, your wedding day isn’t any different.  We don’t want to think that something will go wrong on our wedding day, but it’s inevitable.  I’ve had so many moments over the years of photographing weddings when we wished we’d had something, so a few years ago I created a wedding day emergency kit that I take with me for every wedding!

Since we’re heading into wedding season, and some of my brides are getting pretty stressed about their big day, I thought now was a good time to share what I carry in my wedding emergency kit!

The bag is from H&M and was about $8.  I totally love it because it’s adorable, but because it’s clear it makes it really easy to find what I’m looking for.

Here are all of the items that I have in my kit:

– Black collapsable umbrella (just in case it is in photos, it’s less distracting)

– Small sewing kit

– Safety pins

– Chalk (this can be used to cover smudges on a wedding dress!)

– Tide-to-go pen

– First aid kit (including all size of skin-tone band-aids)

– Pain reliever

– Antacid tablets

– Benadryl

– Floss & toothpicks

– Eye drops

– Small comb

– Small bottle of hair spray

– Bobby pins

– Lint roller

– Clear nail polish

– Nail file

– Hand towelettes

– Hand sanitizer

– Tissues

– Tampons

– Mints

– Smarties (great candy that won’t get sticky or messy for kiddos)

– Earring backs

– Black socks

– Lighter (to light candles, or for ribbons starting to fray)

– Super glue

These are just the things that I’ve seen be needed over the years!  Think I missed something?  Let me know in the comments!  I’m always adding more things to my kit 🙂
