Weddings, just like life, can go in unexpected directions. No matter how well planned (and this day was well planned!) sometimes tornados have a different plan. Jackson & Kaitlyn’s wedding day started with blue skies and lots of nervous anticipation. Kaitlyn had worked so hard to make sure every single minute detail of the day was planned to perfection. These two chose the gorgeous White Iron Ridge as the background for their day and boy was it the most beautiful location for their I DOs!! Everyone relaxed and got ready as the clouds started to roll in. Just as we headed outside for portraits of Kaitlyn and her bridesmaids…the wind picked up and it felt like we’d all be blown half way across Missouri! And about that time we got news a tornado had touched down not to far from us. So we hurried up and shooed Jackson into one room in the basement, while the gals came down (we were not about to spoil their first look down the aisle because of a little weather!) After the storm passed us, we headed back upstairs and finished all their pre-ceremony portraits inside.
It’s days like these that I love the KC wedding industry. I love that we knew weather might get wild and the moment I walked through the door the whole vendor team was making plan B, C, D and so on! So the ceremony was inside, which wasn’t the plan but man was it so amazingly beautiful. And then during the ceremony the sun came back out…perfect, am I right?! So we were able to head outside for the rest of the day’s portraits. The rest of the day went by without a hitch and these two with their favorite people ate, drank, and had one heck of a party. After a gorgeous sunset and a sparkler send off, Jackson & Kaitlyn drove off into their new life together <3
