One of the things I love most about being a wedding photographer is the opportunities that I have to connect with people.  Being abel to work with Phil and Liz has been an absolute treat for me since day one! Phil and I played cello together in high school, and spent countless hours making jokes while hiding behind our cellos.  We’ve kept in touch over the years as he went to West Point, and started his journey in the United States Army.  The next thing I knew he was telling me about this girl.  “You’ll love her” he said, and I couldn’t wait to meet her.  Because all three of us have been all over the country, getting together to take their engagement photos was the first time I could meet her in person, and I totally did love her 🙂  Phil was on leave, so they drove up from Chicago to meet me in Michigan!

The three of us had a great time hanging out and capturing some lovely images of the two of them.  We found a cosy little area inside the oldest part of the Grand Rapids Library.  They love to read, and told me that they could easily get lost in a bookstore for hours so I thought that a library would be the perfect place for them.  I was totally right, the next thing I knew they’d already found books off the shelf they wanted to take home!

It may have been 4º outside but we decided to brave the cold and visit the Grand Haven Lighthouse.  We watched the sunset over a very cold Lake Michigan, complete with beautiful ice caps.  It was an amazing adventure, and I was honored to experience it with the two of them.

Phil and Liz will be getting married in just a few months, and I’m so very excited to be a part of it!  I’ll be traveling to Omaha Nebraska to join their family and friends in celebrating their love, and the beginning of even more adventures together!!
