Vendor Spotlight | Victorian Gardens Floral Design

October 5, 2016

Victorian Gardens Floral Design is a floral design and styling company that has been in business for 18 years(!!), owned and operated by the amazing Amy!  Amy and I met a little over a year ago on a vendor event / inspiration session project, and I am so glad we became friends.  I am honored to have photographed her AMAZING floral designs a few times over the past year, and I cannot wait to work with her again soon.  She is seriously the sweetest person ever, who cares so much about her brides and making their beautiful dreams come true, and has such an amazing talent for what she does.  She has also been a big cheerleader for me as a newbie to KC, and I cannot thank her enough!!  Because she totally rocks my socks, I wanted to feature Amy and her business on the blog today!

What got you started in your business?

I grew up on a farm and loved picking all the flowers in my mothers and grandmothers gardens. I would work with them until they looked just right in the vases or containers. When I was 7, my mother told me I should do this when I grow up and that is just what I did. I was preparing to save up and go to a Seattle floral school right out of high school when I received a call from a local grocery store looking to train someone in floral design. I spent 5 years with them training and learning the business. I soon realized I preferred weddings and event so I left and began Victorian Gardens Floral Design!

What do you enjoy about working in the wedding industry?

We love meeting new people and when our bride/client has an overall vision and allows us to create and bring it to life.

What current wedding trend do you like the most?

We love the natural loose garden look when flowers bend and have movement the way they grow in nature. We like the less is more way of styling, not the waste and the over done look. We believe flowers should be used as accenting and enhancing your event.

What is your favorite part of the planning process/wedding day?

Seeing the finished work/photos and the happy bride at the end of the day brings us such joy, satisfaction and is the best part of our job.

What sets you apart?

We are very selective about our clients and believe that not everyone is a perfect fit for our style and process. We love finding clients who are searching for our particular style and look. They tend to be more trusting of us and our design process.

What inspires you?

I love following many designers with my similar taste and style on social media. Bridal magazines and the world travels I have been to, as well as many of my friends/photographers inspires our designs.

When you have free time, what do you love to do?

God and my family define my life. They are my biggest supporters and the reason I love doing what I do. Every free minute and many working are spent with them.

What is your biggest tip for engaged couples?

Make sure your day is a blend of both of you. Add things that sum you both up as a couple. Find professionals/vendors that channel your vision and trust them to make your day bigger and better than you dreamed.
